Education
Rooted in Faith,
Driven by Excellence
The HHCJ Education Office is committed to excellence through quality enhancement in all our schools. We focus on holistic education — morals, values, academics, and discipline across social, emotional, mental, physical, and cognitive development.
Discover Our StoryNo work is of greater importance for God's glory than the education of the young. Teach them to speak the truth, to be honest in speech and behaviour, even if they have to suffer for it.
Our Foundation in Education
The Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus is a religious Congregation whose Foundress, Mother Mary Charles Magdalen Walker, RSC, was a disciplined and seasoned educationist. Therefore, education is the main apostolate of our Congregation.
Article 64 of our Constitutions states: "We establish standard educational institutes that meet the demands of our times." The HHCJ Education Office was established to coordinate and supervise our institutions — giving quality and standard that is classic and meets the demands of modern times.
The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria affirms that the Church invested heavily and fruitfully in quality education in Nigeria. Our schools have been and remain known for their good academic and moral standards and their non-discriminatory policies.
Our Purpose & Direction
Guided by our Foundress's legacy, the HHCJ Education Office pursues holistic transformation through quality Catholic education.
Excellence Through Quality Enhancement
The HHCJ Education Office is committed to excellence through quality enhancement in all our schools. We share in the teaching ministry of Christ — teaching, training, and preparing our students to meet the challenges of life, not just to obtain certificates.
We teach and train our pupils in the love of God, for the purpose for which life was given — to love God and neighbour — to live as children of God.
Transformation of Persons
Our vision is geared toward the transformation of persons in our different apostolates, especially in the field of education. We understand that when the learning and teaching of the whole person continually improve, every other thing improves.
Our inspiration is drawn from our Mother Foundress — an Educationist Par Excellence — whose motto called us to care deeply for the young, forming them with honesty, truth, and virtue for a life of purpose.
What We Set Out to Achieve
Our objectives are anchored in the vision of our Foundress and the mandate of our Congregation — to establish and maintain standard educational institutions that meet the demands of our times.
Preserve and build upon the high academic and moral standards established since the inception of our institutions — a legacy from our Foundress that continues to define us.
Provide unified coordination and supervision across all HHCJ educational institutions to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with the values of the Congregation.
Form the whole person — in morals, discipline, virtues, and academics — preparing students to meet the challenges of life and become responsible citizens of God's kingdom.
Uphold and promote the Catholic identity of all HHCJ institutions, ensuring that the faith dimension remains central to every aspect of education and school life.
Extend our educational ministry to include special schools for children and adults with disabilities, ensuring no one is left behind in our mission of service.
Continuously evaluate and improve our educational programmes to remain current, relevant, and responsive to the evolving demands of students, society, and the Church.
Education for the Whole Person
We focus on a holistic education encompassing morals, values, academics, and discipline across every dimension of a child's development.
Holistic Education at Every Level
From Nursery to University and Vocational Centres, HHCJ institutions share in the teaching ministry of Christ. We teach and train our students to meet life's challenges — not merely to obtain certificates, but to become people of integrity, faith, and purpose.
Critical thinking, academic excellence, and love of learning at every stage.
Nurturing emotional intelligence, resilience, and compassionate relationships.
Grounding students in faith, virtue, and God's love as the foundation of all formation.
Sport, health education, and physical development as part of complete formation.
Developing responsible citizens who contribute positively to Church and society.
Principles That Guide Us
Rooted in the charism of our Foundress, these values define how we educate, serve, and inspire in every HHCJ institution.
Honesty & Truth
Our Foundress urged us to teach children to speak the truth and to be honest in speech and behaviour — even when it demands courage.
Excellence
We set and maintain the highest academic and moral standards, inspired by the A+ legacy that has defined HHCJ institutions since their founding.
Love & Service
"Love and Service" is the motto of our Congregation. We show special love for every child, bringing them under the influence of grace through our apostolate.
Faith & Inclusion
Our schools practise a non-discriminatory policy, welcoming all. We are missioned to care — offering holistic education to every child, regardless of background.
Standards That Stand the Test of Time
Our Constitution mandates us to "establish standard educational institutes that meet the demands of our times." Quality is not just a goal — it is our calling, our promise, and our heritage.
Transforming Lives Through Education
For decades, HHCJ institutions have inculcated values into countless young lives — building foundations that enable them to take responsibility for the future.
"True education enables us to love life and opens to the fullness of life. We are missioned to care — no amount is too much for your child to enjoy holistic education."
